College of Medicine Holding Workshop on Medical Education in collaboration with Iraqi Doctors Network and British Royal College

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, University of Alkafeel chancellor , the College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel , in cooperation with the Iraqi Doctors Network and the British Royal College in London, organized a specialized workshop : "OSCE Workshop", which started on Monday 13/1/2025, and will continue for two days.

    The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, University of Alkafeel chancellor , Prof.Dr. Nawal Aid Al-Mayali, vice-chancellor for scientific affairs, Dr. Jassim Al-Ibrahimi, Director of Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital, a number of prominent figures in the academic and medical field, a group of professors and deans of medical colleges in Iraq.

    The workshop aims to enhance the skills of teaching staff in conducting OSCE exams (station-based clinical examinations), which is one of the modern evaluation methods in medical colleges. 50% of the workshop time was for the practical training, making it distinguished in terms of practical application.

    Dr. Hilal Al-Saffar, Medical Advisor at University of Alkafeel , stated: “This workshop is a great opportunity to develop medical education methods in Iraq, as more than 250 professors from 22 medical colleges participated in the workshop, either in person or on Zoom. The workshop aims to improve the level of medical education in Iraq by adopting modern and advanced evaluation methods.”

    Dr. Al-Saffar elucidated that the workshop was officially recognized by the British Royal College, and participants were granted an accredited certificate that includes 11 points in continuing medical education.

Prof. Dr. Nawras Al-Dahan, the University chancellor , confirmed that the university is constantly striving to provide the best in the field of medical education. He said:

“University of Alkafeel has developed a comprehensive plan for the academic year 2024-2025 that includes training workshops that keep pace with the latest teaching and evaluation methods, such as the workshop of today , which aims to enhance the quality of medical education in Iraq.”

    Workshop participants expressed their appreciation for university of Alkafeel efforts in organizing such an advanced level of workshop. Dr. Amanj Jalal, from the College of Medicine at Erbil Medical University, praised the benefits of the workshop, saying: “This workshop is a qualitative addition to the field of medical education, especially in the application of the OSCE examination system, which is a global standard. I thank University of Alkafeel University for these valuable efforts.”
