University of Alkafeel Reinforcing Medical Education with Conducting International Workshop in collaboration with University of Northumbria, UK

As part of the activities of the Sixth International Scientific Conference, the College of Medicine at Al-Kafeel University organized a specialized workshop in medical education : "Evidence-Based Medicine and Accreditation", in collaboration with the University of Northumbria, Newcastle, Britain, on Sunday, January 5, 2025.

    On its second day, the workshop included discussions on programmatic accreditation for medical colleges according to approved international standards, in addition to dialogue sessions on evidence-based medicine. Professor James Coy, a lecturer from the University of Northumbria, stressed the importance of developing evidence-based educational methods to improve academic and medical performance. In his statement, Dr. Coy said:

    "This is not my first visit to Iraq, but what I see here at University of Alkafeel  and the College of Medicine shows remarkable development. The university has an excellent infrastructure, and the curricula that show a high positive response from students. The cross-border medical education that we are transferring from the United States and the United Kingdom to Iraq, and specifically to University of Alkafeel , will contribute to improving the overall performance of medical education in the country."

    He added: "I see that the College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel , despite being a young university, is on the right track of achieving its goals to solidify the medical education."

    The workshop was attended by a group of professors from medical colleges at the private and public Iraqi universities, and certain prominent academic figures. It shows the framework of Al-Kafeel University and its efforts to enhance international collaboration and exchange of expertise to augment the level of medical education in Iraq.
